TO PROMOTE THE FLOURISHING OF PEOPLE IN NEED

As citizens we are responsible for the laws that govern us and that affect others around the world. Therefore, one important way to move toward the flourishing of people in need is to speak to our Members of Congress (MoC’s) and let them know what we believe is right and just.

NOT SURE WHAT TO THINK?

We ask ourselves these two simple questions regarding people in crisis:

  1. 1. Should I be thinking about this issue?
  2. 2. Could I be doing anything about it?

And we define these questions in this way:

Should I be concerned with the plight of people regardless of their nationality, belief system, or circumstance? Do my personal values lead me toward or away from those in need? What does my faith tradition say about the foreigner, stranger, or people in crisis?

Could I do anything to help change what is happening? What is within my reach to help those in need?

There are lot’s of voices promoting misinformation regarding both immigrants and refugees. Many places on this site deal with the facts regarding people, their plight, the immigration process, and associated laws and policies. But with the above questions we want to promote one simple thing: the humanity of people. Laws are important and should be upheld - or if unjust, replaced with laws that are just - but nothing is more important than human life. And it is to that end which we use our voice and our power. We all have power. So let’s weild it together for the sake of all people.
