PROJECT SHINE

PROJECT SHINE (SHINE) equips women to understand their own worth and intrinsic value, understand the conflict and injustices in their communities and equips them to pursue peace and justice in the midst of conflict, injustice, and division.

In this, SHINE equips refugee girls to develop an understanding of their personal worth, strength, and purpose and gives them the tools to combat the various forms exploitation and injustices they face in their lives.

We employ an inspirational, practical and experiential approach to learning in our approach to educate our “Shine-Girls” on worth, strength and purpose. We operate under the belief that every life matters and possesses intrinsic value, therefore, we aim to develop this understanding personally for each girl in our program.

WE EQUIP GIRLS TO

– Understand the realities of cultural and social injustices, with an emphasis on domestic human trafficking.
– Identify themselves as valuable members of society
– Gain confidence and develop and understanding of intrinsic value
– Develop decision making and problem solving skills
– Understand how they can have a positive influence in their community through identifying injustice and standing-up for the vulnerable, while living as peacemakers in their own communities.
– Identify personal desires and strengths to motivate them to set and achieve goals.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

Become a Project Shine:

MENTOR
Mentor a Shine-Girl by joining her at Project Shine meetings and committing to meet with her monthly for 12 months.

FACILITATOR
Lead Project Shine meetings during a program course

SITE LEADER
Help the Project Shine facilitator with the administration of program meetings.

HOSPITALITY TEAM MEMBER
Provide meal(s) for the girls during the course of the Program.

SHINE-GIRL PARTY PLANNER
Plan field trips, parties, and activities for mentors and mentees during the program course.

EVENT ADVOCATE
Support Project Shine by hosting events that help raise awareness and financial support.

PRAYER PARTNER
Gather others to meet and pray monthly for the girls in Project Shine during the course of the program.

FINANCIAL SUPPORTER
Donate to Project Shine as we continue to speak life and value into the lives of refugee girls.
